So, it’s cooled down sufficiently that I can start weaving. I’ve been spending more time with the Knifty Knitter, because it’s more compact, admittedly, and figuring out different stitches and the like, but the call of the inkle was strong. First though, a quick look at the first thing I did on the Knifty. It’s not terribly pretty, but it’s neat, which is something, hahahaha.
So that’s the beginning of things. Now, onto the inkle.
First time I tried to warp it, I realised I’d made a mistake. Needless to say, I was quite peeved by this, and uttered quite a lot of swear words as I shook my fist at the thing. I did remember to take a photo though, to document my level of fail as a beginning inkler.
Can you see what I did wrong? It took me a bit to figure it out, even with the help of YouTube vids, etc, but then I realised that, d’oh! I’d heddled the wrong threads. Yeah, clever me. In my defence, my previous weaving adventures have been with tablet weaving, which is a different kettle of yarn altogether.
Anyway, today, I finally decided that enough procrastinating was enough, so I sat down and got to work with re-warping. I changed up the whole thing, and I have to say, never have I been so relieved when something worked out as I was when this did!
And this is a close up of the weave so far. Nothing special, but this is my first go, so I’m quite pleased with myself. Yeah, it’s the little things.
And there we have it. First post with actual weaving done by me!
